1. Discuss Observations
Ulrich and Schneider went to UCLA lab school to observe Reading Workshop in a second grade classroom.
Key points from their observations were
-the teacher used a full balanced literacy program including, shared reading, guided reading, interactive read alouds, read alouds, and word work
-multiple opportunities for students to implement comprehension strategies during read alouds
- stop and jot
-Word sorts and work of Donald Bear was evident
examples included blind sort and open sort
